In 2017, TACAW opened the Temporary, an interim home for artistic programming where the nonprofit programmed more than 250 diverse cultural acts, partnered with more than 35 nonprofits, hosted hundreds of educational workshops, and enjoyed the patronage of more than 25,000 individuals. At the Temporary, TACAW built a robust audience, expanded its donor base, nurtured relationships with national and regional artists, assembled a team of technical, marketing, front-of-house, and administrative staff, and built a reputation as the number one destination for arts and culture in the Midvalley.
The Temporary was the first step in realizing the long term vision for Willits as a vibrant community connected by art and commerce. The space hosted music, comedy, lecture, independent cinema, performing arts, multimedia shows, and special events. This innovative and inviting space presented its last show in April 2019. TACAW is now focused on building an 8,900 square foot building centered around The Contemporary, a reimagining of The Temporary as a 21st-century performance space.
