Education & Community Partnerships

The arts are essential to a well rounded education. Research has definitively demonstrated the impressive benefits of arts education on both individual students and entire school cultures – most noticeably student motivation, attitudes, and attendance. Exposing kids to the arts and giving them the opportunity to participate helps students to stay in school, succeed in school, succeed in work, and enjoy an informed and productive life. The Arts Campus at Willits is committed to being a place where performing, cinematic and culinary arts engagement thrive through:

  •        After-school performing and cinematic arts programs
  •        Workshops about arts careers
  •        Consistent exposure to working artists and arts professionals

In addition, the Arts Campus is forging partnerships with schools and educational nonprofits to integrate arts programming into established curriculums.  Partners currently include:

  • Aspen Center for Environmental Studies
  • Aspen Film
  • Aspen Hope Center
  • AspenOUT
  • Aspen Public Radio
  • Aspen Words
  • Basalt Public Library
  • Blue Lake Preschool
  • CASA of the Ninth
  • Colorado Shakespeare Festival
  • English in Action
  • Jazz Aspen
  • KDNK
  • Rock & Roll Academy Roaring Fork
  • Theater Aspen
  • Thunder River Theatre
  • The Waldorf School

Combined, these efforts will ensure that local students and young people are afforded every opportunity to attend, understand, and partake in the arts. The experiences they have at the Arts Campus at Willits will help shape their lives, their worldview, and their commitment to their community, thereby shaping the future of the Roaring Fork Valley.
